Zanzibella Hotel & SPA

The staff were fantastic, welcoming, friendly and personable. The location right on the beach was great we could hear the waves from our room. Breakfast was fantastic with a huge range of options including, a hot food station where food was made to order, fruits, salads, and baked treats made on site. We had a lovely relaxing stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Without a doubt, the biggest highlight is the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming and always willing to help. Whether we needed a taxi, assistance with our bank card or help finding an excursion, they always did their best. A special thank you to the whole team – they really made us feel welcome. The hotel itself is beautiful, peaceful and very well maintained. Our room was spacious, spotless and comfortable, with hot water, complimentary drinking water, coffee facilities and a nice private terrace. Housekeeping was excellent, and every evening the staff prepared the mosquito net and sprayed mosquito repellent, so we were barely bitten during our stay. Could improve: There are just a few areas that could be improved. The hotel is quite isolated. This isn’t the hotel’s fault, but it takes around an hour to reach most attractions, so if you want to explore Zanzibar, you’ll need to budget for expensive taxi rides. Breakfast was decent but offered very little variety and unfortunately we didn’t enjoy the dinner menu. The music during dinner was also far too loud, making it difficult to have a conversation. The laundry service was much more expensive than expected (around $65 for one basket), and the clothes were simply washed and returned without much attention to detail. The beach in front of the hotel didn’t match our expectations. Because of the tides, the sea is very far away for much of the day, so it wasn’t the ideal place to relax or swim. Finally, we think reception should be available a little earlier in the morning. We needed a taxi at 8:00 a.m., but there was no one at the reception desk to assist us. Overall, we believe this hotel offers good value for money. The property is beautiful and has a lovely atmosphere, and with a few improvements it could be an even better experience. Most importantly, we would like to thank the entire team for their kindness, professionalism and outstanding service. They are truly the hotel’s greatest asset.
