This is a unique property unlike any other. It is cozy and quaint with a colonial feel. Perfect for our post safari final night stay in Arusha before our 3 generation family flew back home. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner for a reasonable price followed by a sumptuous breakfast the next morning. The owners and staff at the property are welcoming and gracious. Could improve: Nothing.

I liked everything. Beautiful old house. You'll feel the comfort of Africa. This is a hidden gem in Arusha. Stay here. The original owner died and the black staff continues to run the business and they are awesome. When I first arrived, I didn't understand that Arusha neighborhoods were so third world and trashy. I wanted to leave, a guest with experience told me, whatever you do, don't leave here. He was right. The people in the neighborhoods are so friendly and helpful. The neighborhood is quiet. Rooms are comfortable. You'll appreciate your experience here compared to the big brand name hotels which you will forget in a week. Could improve: ....... Stay here

The history of the house and stories about 2 entrepeneurial ladies who were well ahead of their time by setting up an internet cafe in the 90s, the first of Arusha! And then all those famous researchers who have stayed there through the years. Comfortable room, sparkle clean ensuite bathroom, history packed living room, nice garden. Eddie has perfected the art of cooking - his breakfasts and dinners were mouthwatering! Could improve: The last part of the road is not great and quite rocky, but that is only 1.4 kms.

The Researchers Rest was a very pleasant surprise. I was so apprehensive when I realised that I had to drive offroad for a couple of kilometres through a heavily populated area called Sakina to get to Researchers Rest. I must say I did not like the road to the guesthouse. However upon arriving at Researchers it was such a pleasant surprise. Lots of beautiful trees, 3 or 4 lovely tortoises and Awesome gardens. The icing on the cake was the food made by Eddy - breakfast and dinner was hands down so amazing. Both my sons and I enjoyed it fully. Could improve: The road to the place was so rough and dodgy and that was a real downer. I almost wish they could pick researchers rest and move it to another location altogether.
