Beach was beautiful. Excellent staff. Could improve: Bit of a mix up with the laundry a few times.

The sheer size of the property and rooms, the hospitality of every worker, the facilities provided and the beautiful beach. Nothing was too hard for the staff to do. Could improve: Nothing

Kendwa beach is spectacular. The hotel room was large, well appointed, and very clean. Housekeeping was excellent. Food throughout, we chose half-board - was very tasty and the chefs were exceptionally friendly and responsive. One of our party had allergy issues and they could not have been more helpful. The last hotel we visited was the Danna in Langkawi - the catering team at the Golden Zanzibar were better. The spa was very good. Everyone at the resort was friendly and helpful. Wifi was excellent outside our room. Inside the room, it did not work very well. Reception's advice was to turn our devices on and off - this did not resolve the issue. The property has large well kept grounds. The gardeners and groundsmen do a spectacular job. Could improve: There is a huge green and yellow bouncy castle/water park slide thing in the water just in front of the hotel beach. It destroys the view of the sea and spoils the atmosphere massively. The beach in front of the hotel attracts a large amount of traders, performers, and people offering rides and services. Once you walk out of the hotel parameter, you are constantly harassed. This makes taking sunset pictures or going for a swim in the sea an unattractive proposition. The hotel adjoins the Kendwa Rocks Hotel which blasts loud music from mid afternoon to late. Again, more Costa del Sol, less 5* experience. The Zuri Hotel is just a few hundred yards away, they have a narrower beach, are also neighbours of the Kendwa Rocks, but do seem to have the unwanted trader etc. issue under control. There is nothing outside the hotel you will want to visit. The road to Stonetown in a mess in places and it will take a good 1.5 hrs to get there.

Gold Zanzibar is an absolutely spectacular property. Everything was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to make sure that all our needs were met. A special shoutout goes to the following amazing people; Morris and Shaaban at the activities desk, Cecilia, Neema, and Happiness in the restaurants, and Ali, Abdi, and the young man from Shrilanka at the front desk. I don’t remember the name of our gardener, but what an extraordinary individual! Overall, the entire staff were bright stars. The food is absolutely wonderful, and there is a huge variety for every meal. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean. The security at the team were not only extremely efficient, but so kind and helpful. We will definitely return and highly recommend!!!! Could improve: The fact that we had to leave 🙃
