A Truly Special Stay at Fruit & Spice Wellness Resort We’ve just returned from an extended stay at this lovely hotel after being delayed due to the situation in the Middle East, and despite the stress of trying to get home, our time here was absolutely wonderful. The hotel itself is small, but that’s part of its charm. It feels intimate, peaceful, and beautifully cared for. The food is fantastic—local, authentic, and full of variety. A particular highlight was our meal at the seafood restaurant: lobster, prawns, and incredible flavours, all served by genuinely special people who made the evening memorable. The pool area is great, and the bar beside it is the perfect place to relax. The Sunset Bar, with its stunning views out to sea, became one of our favourite spots. Throughout the entire resort, the staff were faultless. Apologies for any spelling mistakes, but a huge thank you to Omar (chef), Omar (excursions), Alex (bar), Omzin (bar), all the restaurant staff, and the pool maintenance team—every single one of them made our stay better. A final word for someone truly exceptional: Ransom. He looked after us from start to finish, nothing was ever too much trouble, and we genuinely feel we’ve made a friend for life.

My stay at Fruit and Spice Hotel in Zanzibar was truly unforgettable. I originally chose this hotel because of its private beach and the beautiful jungle that surrounds the property, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of our trip. One of the most unique things about the hotel is its natural setting. The resort is nestled within lush tropical forest, and it feels like you are living in the middle of nature. During our stay, we were lucky enough to see monkeys moving through the trees and even bush babies at night, which made the experience feel really special and authentic to Zanzibar. The private beach was another highlight. It’s peaceful, clean, and far from the crowds you often find at other beaches on the island. It’s the perfect place to relax, swim, and enjoy the incredible views of the turquoise ocean. Something that really touched us was how the hotel cares for cats that have no home on the island. The cats are allowed to stay there and have shelter when is hot or when it’s raining in rainy season. As animal lovers, we absolutely loved this about the hotel. The cats were friendly and added a warm, homely feeling to the resort. Overall, Fruit and Spice Hotel offers a wonderful mix of nature, comfort, and compassion. Between the private beach, the jungle wildlife, and the hotel’s kindness toward animals, it created a truly memorable and heartwarming experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and unique place to stay in Zanzibar. They have amazing selection of food and it’s always fresh local produce. I recommend trying local cuisine. Special thank you to Ajay for warm welcome. Also Salome and Amur were amazing. All the staff were amazing and extremely helpful. Thank you Fruit and Spice for great holiday. 🐒🐠🌴

Food is awful. Seriously awful. Everything else is paradise. Buffet is not refrigerated or even placed over a few ice cubes. Milk is luke warm. Plates of food left uncovered and literally crawling with flying insects. We are on our first full day here with a week to go. Quiet and isolated but only prepared to eat toasted bread, nowhere near for anywhere else to eat despite being on all inclusive. Seriously poor attitude to food hygiene.

We stayed there almost three weeks with family in August/September 2024 but forgot to write review. It was such a perfect place. The management and personnel were doing an amazing service. Not only did they serve great food and the bungalows were just beautiful and clean all the time but they prepared a very special dinner for us with lobster, champagne and so many other delicious specials. They even built a tent just for this dinner for us by using palm branches - this took hours! Highly recommended hotel with a great management and wonderful service people!

We visited the resort for our 59th wedding anniversary, deliberately choosing a small, quiet resort, and were not disappointed. We virtually had the pool to ourselves! Each evening there was a "themed" dinner option, eg Mexican, Greek, Indian etc as well as plenty of other options of fish, pasta, various salads . all of which was very good indeed. Wednesday night the tables and cooking stations were set up round the pool with a guitarist and singer quietly in the background. Saturday evening dinner was served on the beach, which was really enjoyable. Included in our package was a romantic dinner for two on the beach - a five course seafood meal, with lobster, giant prawns, tempura prawns etc etc. Fabulous. The staff were delightful and very friendly and helpful. Any problems were dealt with very quickly (our air conditioning stopped twice but was fixed within minutes). Very little English was spoken by the staff, some people better than others, but Google translate came into its own. Guests came mainly from Germany, France, Greece, and Italy for example with very few English. A really nice place with a beautiful spa as well.
