we were upgraded to the newer Rio Palace Swahili - which is very similar to the Rio Jambo but without children. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a very nice balcony with a view of the sea. The buffet was amazing. Could improve: It was hard to book any of the on site restaurants - even when you tried to book as soon as bookings were open. We did manage to get into a restaurant for 2 nights which was great. We also had a problem with our key which took 3 phone calls to rectify. It is also a long drive to Stonetown / Airport on some pretty horrible roads. If you want to see some of the shops and sights of Stonetown it is nearly 1 1/2 hours each way and about $35 USD in a taxi. Other transport options are not conveniently available.
