Gnu Mara River Camp

Die Lage war unglaublich schön, man hatte einen tollen Blick auf die Herden der Great Migration. Das Essen war das Beste, das wir im ganzen Urlaub hatten, wirklich außergewöhnlich. Nachts hört man diverse Tiere direkt vor den Zelten. Could improve: nichts :-)

The tents where good and the diner was ok Campfire in the evening was also nice Could improve: Location The camp is approximately a one-hour drive from the Mara River, not just a few minutes away as suggested on the website. Also, please do not confuse this camp with GNU Mara River Camp, which appears on Google Maps. Next to the river. We stayed at GNU Mara Migration Camp, so the name is not fully correct on booking which is located much farther from the river. We booked approximately nine months in advance and were therefore disappointed to discover the actual distance. At the time of our stay, the website was still describing the river as being only minutes away. However, we did not deduct points for the location, because we acknowledge that we could have checked the exact GPS coordinates ourselves before booking. Internet If Wi-Fi/internet is advertised as available, we believe it should also be available in the tents, not only in the main area. Unfortunately, during our stay it did not work properly in the main area either. Because of that 2 days fully disconnected. With kids at home is that not really good. Many Camps work with satelite this days. Food Dinner was okay, but breakfast was very disappointing. Also the take always where very dissapointing. We came for breakfast at around 7:30 AM, and the food that had apparently been put out for the 6:00 AM buffet was still there. There were flies on the bread, and the hot-food selection consisted mainly of sausages, dry vegetables and bacon that had been sitting out. 3 things and dry Bread. Toasts that where already 2 hours before toasted. The freshly prepared eggs were the only real positive part of breakfast. The accommodation is advertised as full board, but apart from water at the camp, essentially no drinks are included. We also requested takeaway breakfast/lunch because we were leaving early for full-day game drives. On both occasions, the food was prepared too late.

Terrific, warm and professional staff with great spirit, superb food and wonderful people who get the guests dancing with joy after dinner! Could improve: No hot water on cold mornings but you have to recognize that this is a mobile camp with a fabulous staff who do all they can with what they have
